Performance & Versatility

The standard rubber track undercarriage provides superior flotation and traction on sensitive or soft surfaces and minimizes damage as you travel across established surfaces, such as yards, driveways or patios, reducing the need to return to the jobsite for repairs.

Pilot-operated control valves provide smooth, predictable work group control for precision work in close quarters. You won’t have to sacrifice speed to get smoother operation. A smooth control valve system provides ample, consistent oil flow for the job for fast cycle times and a smooth, agile response to your commands.

All -7 Series mini excavators are hydraulic quick-coupler-ready with quick-coupler hydraulic piping installed to the end of the arm. All models also have a thumb-ready arm that includes durable thumb mounts integrated into the arm.

Auxiliary hydraulics are configured with easy connections to quickly connect hoses when using hydraulic attachments. An optional second set of hydraulics runs multi-function attachments that require multi-function hydraulic flow.

Take on different jobs and expand your business by doing more with one machine using attachments. Available attachments include buckets, thumb and quick coupler.

Durability & Serviceability

DEVELON incorporates steel hydraulic lines mounted securely on the top part of the boom structure, protected from wear, tear and damage on the job. Rubber hoses are routed through the lower portion of the boom swing casting that stand up to rugged working conditions.

The durable DEVELON work group is built tough, ensuring a long, productive life for your machine and requiring less routine maintenance. It’s also designed with room for the addition of secondary auxiliary hydraulics. If you need them, you can install a second auxiliary hydraulics option with less effort and lower cost.

The swing-open tailgate and side-access hood offer easy access to the engine and pump package, valve bank, cooling system and plumbing. Filters, fluids, air cleaner, battery and other maintenance points are also easy to get to. Cooling cores can be separated for quick, easy cleaning of the radiator. Centralized boom swing cylinder grease banks make daily maintenance more convenient.

The battery disconnect switch completely disables your battery connection, protecting the battery life during extended storage periods. Color-coded and labelled wiring and hydraulic hoses allow quicker, easier electrical troubleshooting.

DEVELON mini excavators are backed by a robust 4-year / 6000-hour warranty, whichever comes first. Our award-winning service will ensure your operations are seamless and efficient.  You’ll get parts and service support from your local authorized DEVELON dealer.

Comfort & Control

The standard enclosed cab is easy to enter, exit and work in, offering greater visibility, superior comfort and a quiet environment.

Adjustable armrests move precisely to where you’re most comfortable. The seat base features extra layers of insulation — minimizing the heat transfer and vibration from the engine to provide a new level of comfort.

The quiet engine, solid cab construction and innovative, noise-reducing materials make it easier to concentrate on the work.

The framed, full glass door provides exceptional visibility to the area alongside the excavator. Flip-up foot pedals provide extra foot space when needed.

The -7 Series mini excavator design brings more operational consistency across all DEVELON products. The controls, buttons and general operations are now similar for DEVELON mini excavators and our large crawler and wheel excavators — making it easy to move from machine to machine and operate with confidence.

A simple thumb switch on the right joystick controls auxiliary hydraulic functions, making fine adjustments effortless and improving your efficiency and comfort throughout the day. A thumb switch on the left joystick (4-ton models and larger) control your boom swing. Choose the control pattern you prefer — ISO or BHL.

The easy-to-read, full-color LCD 5.7-inch screen displays key machine data and control options. The screen provides a high-resolution graphic display, enhanced machine vitals and diagnostic screens.

An optional 8-inch touch screen display upgrade provides additional features, including air conditioning and audio controls from the panel.

The optional rearview camera provides an additional view, allowing you to navigate easily on jobsites.

Frequently Asked Questions

A compact excavator, also known as a mini excavator, is designed to operate in tight spaces where larger excavators cannot fit. Many mini excavators are equipped with either 'zero' tail swing or 'reduced' tail swing capabilities, allowing them to maneuver easily in confined areas as long as the tracks can pass through.

Most mini excavators feature rubber tracks as they cause less ground disturbance than a large excavator’s steel tracks. However, for those who prefer steel tracks, DEVELON offers this as an option for 'larger' mini excavators. Contact us for help choosing the machine best suited for your needs.

When choosing a mini excavator model, there are several factors to consider. These may include the machine's width, horsepower, digging depth, reach and dump height. It’s also essential to consider the hydraulic flow for the mini excavator attachments. Mini excavators are available with rubber tracks or tires to best fit your job site conditions.

The average mini excavator price or rental cost can vary based on the local market, machine class and options. First, determine your necessary mini excavator specs. You can typically find equipment specifications on the manufacturer's website.

Next, consider the available space on the job site. This will narrow down your options. Select a machine that offers the performance and operational capabilities to be most efficient.

Mini excavators come in zero tail swing, reduced tail swing and conventional tail swing configurations. A reduced or zero tail swing mini excavator has less overhang when it turns, enabling it to work close to other objects.

A mini excavator’s digging depth and reach depend on the arm length. Configure a mini excavator with a standard arm for robust breakout forces.

A mini excavator long arm gives operators more digging depth and reach for improved productivity. Add a bucket and thumb for added versatility when digging or lifting objects.

Attachments for mini excavators include buckets, quick couplers and thumbs. Attachments for specialty projects include brush cutters, hydraulic breakers, hammers and augers. Make sure your excavator has enough hydraulic flow for specialty attachments. Contact us to enquire about buying or renting attachments

Mini excavator maintenance includes regular cleaning, checking fluid levels, engine maintenance and hydraulic system inspections.

Clean the undercarriage, grease the machine, replace filters and keep the cooling system free from debris. Make mini excavator repairs as soon as possible.

Contact us for help, or use MY DEVELON fleet management to stay on top of machine maintenance.

Mini excavator safety features may include high-illumination LED lamps for enhanced visibility to the work area so the operator can see the workgroup, particularly the attachment. An optional rotating beacon may be available for enhanced safety when operators are working in high-traffic areas or low-light situations.

A travel alarm may be available to alert others on the job site when the mini excavator is at work, for added awareness and safety. DEVELON offers a rearview camera to provide an additional view and allow operators to easily navigate the job site.

The vehicle needed to transport your mini excavator will depend on the weight of the machine. Before transporting a mini excavator, always check your gross vehicle mass (GVM) with certified scales, determine truck and trailer manufacturer weight limitations, follow mini excavator tie-down requirements, and adhere to state laws to ensure that you are transporting your mini excavator in a safe manner.

You can find the unit weights for DEVELON mini excavators on the model page.
